Health Care  Student -  Canyon Country (Santa Clarita), CAPrograms range from seven months to 30 months depending on the degree, although all of them are focused on providing a results-driven curriculum. All classes at Charter College are started on a regular basis year-round, so students aren't restricted to set quarters or semesters. This kind of structure allows students to graduate and enter the working world faster.

In the health care field, the Canyon Country campus offers training in Medical Insurance Coding and Billing, Massage Therapist, Medical Assistant, and Pharmacy Technician.

Dental Assistant

If you're looking to become a Dental X-Ray Technician, Chairside Dental Assistant, or Dental Office Manager, the Dental Assistant program at Charter College might be perfect for you! Designed to prepare students for entry-level employment in the dental field, the Dental Assistant program focuses on the skills needed in order to become a successful member of a dental team.

Coursework in the Dental Assistant program includes infection control, treatment procedures, basic front of house procedures, clinical instruction in chairside assisting procedures, lab work, and didactic procedures. Graduates of this program earn a Certificate for Coronal Polishing and Dental X-Ray, in addition to a diploma in Dental Assisting.

Vocational Nursing

The Vocational Nursing program at Charter College focuses on the fundamentals of nursing. A combination of hands-on training and nursing theory, the Vocational Nursing curriculum also prepares you to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical/Vocational Nurses (NCLEX-PN Examination). Graduates of this program are prepared to seek employment as a practical nurse, general nurse, private nurse, staff nurse, or industrial nurse.

Santa Clarita Nursing StudentIn addition to the basics of nursing, coursework centers around nursing skills, specialty nursing, patient care, pediatrics, hospice care, rehabilitation, home health, mental health, family nursing, patient care, medical-surgical nursing, and obstetric nursing.

Medical Insurance Coding and Billing

The Medical Insurance Coding and Billing program prepares students for the administrative side of working in a medical office. Courses include medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, insurance processing, bills and collections, bookkeeping, and industry-standard coding techniques.

Graduates are eligible to work in entry-level front office settings or in medical insurance companies. This program is the only health-based one to include an externship at a local hospital, insurance company, or medical office.

Massage Therapy

The Massage Therapist program prepares graduates to work in entry-level massage therapy positions. These range from working in private massage practices and chiropractic offices to cruise ships and full-package spas. All training is focused on hands-on learning to better emulate the real world setting.

Medical Assistant

The Medical Assistant program offers training for students looking to work as medical receptionists, ECG technicians, and medical assistants. The focus of the courses is on working with both the clinical and the administrative sides of the health care field, particularly as it relates to the current standards in the medical industry.

Pharmacy Technician

The Pharmacy Technician program offers graduates the chance to find entry-level work as assistants or technicians to licensed pharmacists. Coursework focuses primarily on medical terminology and skills as they relate to drug distribution and insurance processing.
