About Florida Career College

Florida Career College is a subsidiary of Education Training Corporation, another Florida-based company. As an educational institution, the Florida Career Colleges were opened in 1982 under the name of Florida Programming and Educational Center, Inc.

Clearwater, FL Health Care StudentThey transformed their name to Florida Computer Business School in 1990 to reflect the change in focus to both computer-based industries and general business training. Since then, the school has continued to grow with the industry, incorporating health-related courses and programs, including those currently offered.

There are a number of diploma and degree programs offered through the Clearwater health care options. Prospective students can choose between diplomas as a Massage Therapist, Medical Assistant Technician, Medical Coding & Billing Specialist, and Clinical Skin Care.

An Associate of Science degree is offered in both Advanced Massage Therapy and Medical Office Administration. A Bachelor of Science is available in Health Information Management.

Bachelor of Science in Health Information Management

Of the degree options offered at Florida Career College in Clearwater, the BS in Health Information Management is the longest program. It lasts for a total of 45 months, offering students the chance to combine general education classes with business and health care management as well as the basics of medical assisting, office administration, and billing & coding.

Associate of Science Degree Programs

The AS programs (Professional Therapeutic Massage, Medical Assistant, Medical Billing and Coding, Medical Office Administrator) are between 21 and 24 months long. Both provide general education classes along with training for entry-level positions in their respective fields. As with the BS degree option, basic learning in medical assisting and office administration are included in the Medical Office Administrator program.

Diploma Programs

The school's newest addition – the Clinical Skin Care program – requires only 30 credits of training. The school has seven campuses across Florida, including the home campus of Miami as well as Pembroke Pines, West Palm Beach, Lauderdale Lakes, Brandon, and Clearwater. The Clearwater campus boasts a total of 28,000 square-feet of space. All classrooms are large and kept up-to-date. The school offers computer labs, medical labs, and a resource center, as well as various administrative offices in each location. Staff members are chosen for their experience in each field.
