Surgical Technologist - Diploma

Learning the duties of the four types of surgical technologists (scrub, second circulating, second assisting, first assisting), Diploma in Surgical Technology students will receive hands-on training in performing tasks during, before, and after surgical procedures. Coursework includes training in handling instruments, maintaining a sterile environment, handling surgical equipment and supplies, assessing patient needs, and assisting with procedures other than suturing, clamping, and cutting.
Practical Nursing - Diploma
As a licensed professional, the LPN uses the nursing process for patient assessment, to contribute to the nursing diagnosis made by the RN and for planning, implementation, and evaluation in providing care. LPN's are integral to nursing, and provide individualized care in a variety of healthcare settings such as acute care, long-term care, home health care, and other community healthcare agencies.
Upon completion of the program and passing the licensing examination, the LPN can enter the workforce as a competent, skilled nurse. Practical nurses provide bedside nursing care at the direction of physicians and/or registered nurses. The practice of practical nursing is based on concepts from the physical, biological, and behavioral sciences. Each state has its own nurse practice act, so the scope of practice varies from state to state.
Nursing - Associate of Applied Science
Preparing graduates to take the National Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX.RN), the Associate of Applied Science in Nursing degree from Concorde Career College is designed to applicants who are not Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN's) at the time of enrollment. Learning the foundations of nursing and patient care, students will also take general education classes and nursing theory classes. In addition, students will participate in clinical practice, and learn about the legal and ethical issues involved in nursing. Coursework in the AAS - Nursing program also includes the care of pediatric patients, mental health, and maternal-child nursing care.
Nursing - Bridge Program Option - Associate of Applied Science
Designed to transition students from the role of a Practical Nurse to one of a Registered Nurse, students of the Nursing - Bridge Program Associate of Applied Science Degree program at Concorde Career College are enrolled in a Life Span transitions course to begin their education. Learning skills such as therapeutic communication, research, and critical thinking, students also receive training in pediatric patient care, mental health, and maternal-child nursing. Upon completion of the AAS - Nursing Bridge Program, students will be well-prepared to take the National Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX.RN).
