About Kaplan College
Kaplan College offers a variety of programs that allow graduates to go on and have fulfilling, well-paying careers. With the current rate of expansion, the health care field is full of opportunities for those who want to advance themselves.
The Fresno campus of Kaplan College offers certificates in a number of areas. The curriculum includes real-world situations so that students are fully prepared to begin their careers.
While traditional day classes are available, Kaplan College also holds evening classes for adults who are currently working but are hoping to either advance or make a switch to the health care industry.
Medical Assisting (Certificate)
Kaplan College's Fresno campus offers a diploma for their Medical Assistant program. These graduates are well equipped to assist doctors and nurses during exams and procedures, as well as to do charting and reception work.
Medical Office Specialist (Certificate)
Instructing students in the basics of medical front office operations, the Medical Office Specialist curriculum at Kaplan College is a Diploma program.
In addition to the basics of insurance plans, students will learn filing, scheduling, mail, banking, inventory, and telephone techniques. With a focus on insurance billing and coding, this program covers the essential skills needed in order to enter this exciting field.
Dental Assistant (Certificate)
An 8-month program the Diploma in Dental Assisting curriculum will prepare students for an entry-level position in a dental office. In addition, students will graduate with the skills needed in order to take the Licensed Registered Dental Assistant Exam. Coursework includes x-rays, patient prep. chair-side assisting, insurance billing, and appointment control.
Faculty
Not only do Kaplan College faculty members have experience in the medical field, but many of them are still active. This means that they are up-to-date on many of the most recent technologies and trends and are able to keep their students current.
Both faculty and staff are available to help students as they adjust to college life and as they work through their programs. Students receive individual advisement and even have the opportunity to work with tutors.
Facilities
The Fresno campus is a modern facility that is filled with state-of-the-art equipment. Free parking is available. Classrooms and laboratories have been built to allow for actual hands-on experience, and the library and learning resource center are available to augment classroom studies.
The equipment includes everything from up-to-date electrocardiograph machines and x-ray machines to personal computers and 10-key machines. The campus includes student lounges and computer labs, too.
Accreditation
Kaplan College has been accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges of Technology and has been licensed by the Bureau for Private Postsecondary and Vocational Education. Other approvals have been bestowed by organizations like the National Center for Competency Testing, the California Department of Health Services, the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology, and others.
The school is also a member of the Association of American Medical Technologists, Career College Association, California Association of Private Postsecondary Schools, and Alpha Beta Kappa National Honor Society.
Financial Aid
Students of Kaplan College are eligible to receive a variety of financial aid. Government grants and loans, are just two possibilities. California State may also be able to offer funding opportunities, as well.

Going to School in Fresno, CA
Fresno is located in California’s central valley. Although there are about 500,000 people in Fresno itself, over a million live in the metropolitan area. Fresno has relatively cold winters and hot, dry sunny summers with less than 10 inches of rain a year.
Fresno is the largest agricultural center in the country, but agriculture is becoming less important as manufacturing, service industry and public sector jobs increase. The cost of living is relatively low, especially when compared to other California cities, which is part of the reason it is the All-American City.
Outdoor recreation is abundant in the Fresno area. It is close to Yosemite and Sequoia National Parks, mountain trails and the San Joaquin River. Fresno has several beautiful parks, including Woodward Park, which has the Shinzen Japanese Gardens, the San Joaquin River Parkway and Kearney Park, home of one of the nation’s largest Civil War re-enactments.
There are plenty of cultural opportunities in Fresno, too. You can visit the Fresno Metropolitan Museum, the Fresno Arts Museum or Arte Americas, the Latino cultural museum. Save Mart Center Arena provides a venue for concerts, college basketball and other special events.
