About Heald College
Heald College offers a variety of programs for those who want to get involved in the health care field. They offer both Associate’s Degrees and diplomas in a number of fields. The school was founded in San Francisco in 1863, and the Fresno campus came in 1891.
The health care industry is growing at an amazing rate. This means that the need for qualified health care professionals is also growing. Students attending full-time can earn a diploma in nine to twelve months.
The school also offers part-time programs, however, for working adults who want to make a change in their lives.
Medical Assisting (Associate's Degree or Diploma)
Another option for moving into a career that allows for hands-on patient care is to pursue an Associate’s Degree or diploma in Medical Assisting. Graduates find jobs in hospitals, clinics, and doctor’s offices. Heald College will even help with job placement both right after graduation, and throughout your life.
Medical Insurance Billing & Coding (Diploma) and Medical Office Administration (Associate's Degree or Diploma)

The Medical Insurance Billing and Coding program offers a diploma and allows graduates to start careers working for health care facilities or insurance companies. Faculty
The faculty at Heald College are ready and willing to help students reach their full potential in the health care field. The Fresno campus boasts about a twenty-four-to-one ratio of students to instructors, with approximately 800 students and 40 faculty members. Instructors have experience in their fields and are able to bring that back to infuse their classes with authenticity.
Facilities
The Fresno campus of Heald College is a 38,000 square-foot-facility in the heart of the city. The campus also boasts free parking for students. The school is home to a 1,800 square-foot dental lab that is completely modern and allows for real-world, hands-on experience. There is a conference center with wireless capability and a Learning Resource Center that includes a library and computer lab.
Accreditation
Just as students are expected to earn their credentials, so too has Heald College. The school is accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. This accrediting organization is recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation, as well as the U.S. Department of Education.
Financial Aid

Fresno is located in California’s central valley. Although there are about 500,000 people in Fresno itself, over a million live in the metropolitan area. Fresno has relatively cold winters and hot, dry sunny summers with less than 10 inches of rain a year.
Fresno is the largest agricultural center in the country, but agriculture is becoming less important as manufacturing, service industry and public sector jobs increase. Outdoor recreation is abundant in the Fresno area. It is close to Yosemite and Sequoia National Parks, mountain trails and the San Joaquin River. Fresno has several beautiful parks, including Woodward Park, which has the Shinzen Japanese Gardens, the San Joaquin River Parkway and Kearney Park, home of one of the nation’s largest Civil War re-enactments.
There are plenty of cultural opportunities in Fresno, too. You can visit the Fresno Metropolitan Museum, the Fresno Arts Museum or Arte Americas, the Latino cultural museum. Save Mart Center Arena provides a venue for concerts, college basketball and other special events.
