About Florida Career College
Florida Career College is a subsidiary of Education Training Corporation, another Florida-based company. As an educational institution, the Florida Career Colleges were opened in 1982 under the name of Florida Programming and Educational Center, Inc.
They transformed their name to Florida Computer Business School in 1990 to reflect the change in focus to both computer-based industries and general business training. Since then, the school has continued to grow with the industry, incorporating health-related courses and programs, including those currently offered.
There are a number of diploma and degree programs offered through the Hialeah health care options. Prospective students can choose between diplomas as a Massage Therapist, Medical Assistant Technician, Medical Coding & Billing Specialist, and Clinical Skin Care.
An Associate of Science degree is offered in both Advanced Massage Therapy and Medical Office Administration. A Bachelor of Science is available in Health Information Management.
Bachelor of Science in Health Information Management
Of the degree options offered at Florida Career College in Hialeah, the BS in Health Information Management is the longest program. It lasts for a total of 45 months, offering students the chance to combine general education classes with business and health care management as well as the basics of medical assisting, office administration, and billing & coding.
Associate of Science Degree Programs
The AS programs (Advanced Massage Therapist and Medical Office Administrator) are between 21 and 24 months long. Both provide general education classes along with training for entry-level positions in their respective fields. As with the BS degree option, basic learning in medical assisting and office administration are included in the Medical Office Administrator program.
Diploma Programs
The diploma programs last for a total of 9 to 12 months, depending on the chosen field. Although less comprehensive that the degree programs, much of the basic education is similar, including instruction on basic office skills and clinical patient work. The school's newest addition – the Clinical Skin Care program – requires only 30 credits of training.

The school has seven campuses across Florida, including the home campus of Miami as well as Pembroke Pines, West Palm Beach, Lauderdale Lakes, Clearwater, and Brandon. The Hialeah campus boasts a total of 28,000 square-feet of space. All classrooms are large and kept up-to-date. The school offers computer labs, medical labs, and a resource center, as well as various administrative offices in each location. Staff members are chosen for their experience in each field.
Accreditation

Hialeah is essentially a blue collar town with quiet neighborhoods, a low crime rate and thriving commercial areas.
Hialeah has a colorful past. During the 1920s Hialeah was basically a party town with plenty of activities to keep visitors and residents entertained. Thousands enjoyed jai-alai and greyhound racing regularly. There was also a movie studio in Hialeah producing silent movies. A major hurricane in 1926 put the brakes on the growth of Hialeah.
The original vision for Hialeah was as a place for the rich and famous to entertain and amuse themselves. However, the Cuban revolution resulted in an influx of Cuban exiles and the new residents turned Hialeah into a working-class area.
This migration continued through the 70s, 80s and 90s with strongly positive results. Hialeah is considered the most economically successful immigrant community in the United States. It is currently the only American industrial city that is still growing.
