McAllen, TX Health Care StudentsSTVTC offers training programs that range from six to twelve months. The accelerated pace allows students to not only gain knowledge in their fields but also work with job placement specialists to further enhance job prospects. The ESL program is designed to help adult students master the English language in reading, writing, and speaking.

STVTC is a school for students with purpose and a sense of goal. Their fast-paced curricula lets students get into their careers as quickly as possible with as much knowledge and know-how as possible.

Patient Care Technician/Medical Assistant - Diploma

A diploma program, the Patient Care Technician/Medical Assistant curriculum at South Texas Vocational Technical Institute is designed to equip graduates with the skills needed in order to become a nursing assistant, hospital unit clerk, or patient care technician. Graduates will be well-prepared to seek entry-level employment in a nursing home, physician's office, hospital, or other health care setting.

In addition to learning how to aid physicians and nurses during patient examinations and treatment, students will receive a balanced approach to their education, which combines classroom lectures and laboratory practice. Coursework includes lab procedures, phlebotomy, medical anatomy, CPR and first aid, office administration procedures, and medical administration procedures. This program also includes an externship, which gives students the opportunity to apply skills and knowledge in a health care setting.

Dental Assisting - Diploma

Available at the McAllen campus of South Texas Vocational Technical Institute as a Diploma program, the Dental Assisting curriculum is designed to prepare students for a career as a dental assistant at a dental clinic or dental office.

Coursework in the Dental Assisting program includes dental lab techniques and procedures, four and six-handed chair-side assistance, CPR, radiology, and various front office procedures. In addition to class and lab work, the Dental Assisting program at STVT includes an externship, allowing students to gain vital real-world experience in a supportive educational environment.

Pharmacy Technician - Diploma

In addition, the topics of acupressure, pre-natal massage, reflexology, and massage for special populations are discussed and studied in detail.

Medical Administrative Assisting Technology (Billing and Coding) - Diploma

A Diploma program, the Medical Administrative Assisting Technology(Billing and Coding) curriculum prepares graduates for entry-level positions in clinics, insurance companies, hospitals, doctors offices, and other health care facilities. Facilities

South Texas Vocational Technical Institute McAllen’s campus offers courses in healthcare and business and computers. Financial Aid
