About Everest College

Everest College strives to teach students through hands-on learning so that they can see real-world applications for what they’re learning in and out of the classroom. In addition, most programs are intensive and focused.

Health Care Students - Merrillville, INRather than spending time with unrelated “core” classes like at other institutions, Everest students study exactly what they need to know to start their careers. Patient Care Programs

Everest College offers programs in several health care disciplines. For those wanting to work directly in patient care, there are programs for Dental Assistant, Medical Assistant, and Licensed Practical Nursing.

Surgical Technology

Performing essential duties before, during, and after surgical procedures, the surgical technology program will prepare through training in physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, CPR, and professional ethics.

In addition, students in the surgery technology program will be able to position patients with ease, function as an effective member of a surgical team, use proper aseptic techniques in order to prevent and control infection, and recognize basic surgical instrument sets.

Massage Therapy

Students who really want to interact with patients as part of a health care team might consider the Massage Therapy program at Everest College. While this program obviously teaches about tools and techniques, it goes even further to take a look at the ethics and behaviors required of a Massage Therapist. Some of the techniques taught include Pre-Natal, Post-Natal and Infant, and Elder Massage. Eastern and Western theories are also explored.

The town of Merrillville was once covered with dense woodlands. It occupies an area of approximately 33 square miles and has a population of about 31,000. Merrillville offers a great deal of diversity in housing, population and cultural experiences.

There are a variety of business districts that present employment and economic support for the 31,000 residents and 12,000 individual households. Estimates show that during the week the population of Merrillville swells to over 100,000 due to the influx of those that work and come to shop in Merrillville. The town is considered the center of the county mainly because the intersection of I-65 and Route 30 brings a tremendous amount of traffic through the area.

Merrillville is about 30 miles from downtown Chicago providing relatively easy access to the metropolis and all of the amenities that one of the largest metropolitan areas in the country.
