About Brown Mackie College

Brown Mackie College was founded more than 100 years ago in 1892 as the Kansas Wesleyan School of Business. In the late 1930s, it was purchased by Perry E. Brown and A.B. Mackie who renamed it the Brown Mackie School of Business.

There are now 19 locations found in 9 different states, and the focus has spread out from business to include computers, education, medical, and more. The school has a one-class-a-month format that makes it unique.

Medical Assisting

An Associate’s Degree in Medical Assisting is a great choice for students who want to work directly with patients. Under the guidance of licensed doctors, Medical Assistants are able to do diagnostic testing and to assist with minor surgeries.

They will also study some of the administrative aspects of health care so they can work in the front office, as well. The Moline campus of Brown Mackie College also offers a diploma in Medical Assisting.

Medical Office Management

A 48 credit hour program, the Diploma in Medical Office Management will prepare students to seek entry-level employment in the fields of insurance billing and coding. In addition to developing entry-level skills in medical billing and coding, this program will teach students to use critical thinking in patient-medical billing situations.

Students of the Medical Office Management program will also learn the skills needed for front office duties and clinical applications, and will be well prepared to work in a physician's office, hospital, or clinical environment.

The faculty at Brown Mackie College is dedicated to helping students successfully reach their goals. They help ensure that graduates are fully prepared to enter their fields of choice in order to become full-fledged professionals. Classes are purposely designed with a low student-to-instructor ratio in order for more time to be devoted to each student.

The Moline campus of Brown Mackie College is home to 12 classrooms, but it has so much more to offer. The school’s three computer labs include an MCSE lab and a CADD lab. There are also two medical labs and an electronics lab. Additionally, the school has both library and a law library.

Accreditation

The Moline campus of Brown Mackie College has been accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools, and is thereby allowed to award Associate’s Degrees and diplomas. ACICS is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.
