While traditional day classes are available, Kaplan College also holds evening classes for adults who are currently working but are hoping to either advance or make a switch to the health care industry.

Medical Assistant (Diploma)

Kaplan College's North Hollywood campus offers a diploma for their Medical Assistant program. These graduates are well equipped to assist doctors and nurses during exams and procedures, as well as to do charting and reception work.

X-Ray Technician/Back Office Medical Assistant (Diploma & Certificate)

The X-Ray Technician/Back Office Medical Assistant diploma really gives graduates an advantage in their job searches. In addition to preparing students to take the California State Examination to become an x-ray technician, it also teaches the skills required to help operate a medical office. Students may choose to become x-ray technicians or to work as back office medical assistants.

Vocational Nursing (Diploma)

The LVN program at Kaplan College leads to a diploma that allows graduates to sit for the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-PN), certifying them to practice as LVN's in the state of California.

They will have the necessary skills and expert knowledge required for entry-level positions as acute care staff nurses, home health nurses, licensed vocational nurses (after passing state exam), long-term care charges or staff nurses, phlebotomy/blood bank nurses and public school LVN's/health clerks.

Students will learn fundamentals and principles of nursing with foundational courses in medical terminology, physiology and psychology. Students will also be given an in depth knowledge of maternal-newborn, pediatric, medical-surgical and geriatric nursing.

Diagnostic Cardiac Sonography (Certificate)

Preparing graduates to seek entry-level employment as a Echocardiography technologist or Diagnostic cardiac sonographer, the Diagnostic Cardiac Sonography curriculum at Kaplan College is a Certificate program. Training includes performing measurements on the echocardiogram, obtaining echocardiographic images, and proving information to the physician for diagnostic purposes.

Diagnostic Medical Sonography/Ultrasound (Diploma)

Health Care Student - North Hollywood, CAA Diploma program, the Diagnostic Medical Sonography/Ultrasound curriculum at Kaplan College is designed to seek entry-level positions as a diagnostic medical sonographer, ABI technician, or ultrasound technologist.

The program includes a clinical externship, and students will learn how to perform ultrasound scans of the pelvic area, superficial structures, upper abdomen, and peripheral vascular system.

Coursework in this exciting program includes performing measurements on images, providing the physician with vital information, explaining procedures to to patients, and obtaining Doppler images, color-flow images, and vascular 2-D images. Radiologic Technology (Diploma)

A hands-on curriculum, the Radiologic Technology course of study at Kaplan is Diploma program. In addition to anatomy, students will learn how X-rays are produced, and the requirements and designs of various field-related equipment. In addition to performing diagnostic imaging procedures, graduates will be well prepared to become  a vital member of a health care team.

Not only do Kaplan College faculty members have experience in the medical field, but many of them are still active. This means that they are up-to-date on many of the most recent technologies and trends and are able to keep their students current. Both faculty and staff are available to help students as they adjust to college life and as they work through their programs. Students receive individual advisement and even have the opportunity to work with tutors.

Facilities

The North Hollywood campus is a modern facility that is filled with state-of-the-art equipment. Free parking is available. Classrooms and laboratories have been built to allow for actual hands-on experience, and the library and learning resource center are available to augment classroom studies. The equipment includes everything from up-to-date electrocardiograph machines and x-ray machines to personal computers and 10-key machines. The campus includes student lounges and computer labs, too.

Accreditation

Kaplan College has been accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges of Technology and has been licensed by the Bureau for Private Postsecondary and Vocational Education. Other approvals have been bestowed by organizations like the National Center for Competency Testing, the California Department of Health Services, the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology, and others.

The school is also a member of the Association of American Medical Technologists, Career College Association, California Association of Private Postsecondary Schools, and Alpha Beta Kappa National Honor Society.
