About Colorado Technical University

Colorado Technical University first opened its doors in 1965 in, of course, Colorado. From its onset, students were meant to be prepared for careers in the cutting-edge of technology and labor needs. Despite the traditional degrees bestowed by the school, the emphasis always has been on career-focused learning.

North Kansas City, MO Health Care StudentsAs an institution, Colorado Technical University grants everything from Associate to Doctorate degrees (which were added to the curriculum in 1995). Part of the school's mission is to provide support services in the form of career planning, academic advice, and financial aid services.

The North Kansas City campus of Colorado Technical University was opened in 2005. The student base is composed primarily of adults seeking to start new careers or further their existing ones, and most students work at least part-time while attending classes. In addition to the numerous health care options, this campus offers business, criminal justice, technology, and accounting degree programs.

At the North Kansas City campus, there are a total of five health-related degree programs available: three AAS degrees (in Medical Assisting, Radiologic Technology, and Surgical Technology), two BAS degrees (in Radiologic Technology and Health Care Management), and two Diploma programs (Medical Assisting and Practical Nursing).

Kansas City was not incorporated until 1853 but saw a good deal of history prior to that year. Lewis and Clark camped at the location of the city on their way to the Pacific and identified the location as a good place for a fort.

Kansas City, MOAs trade on the Missouri River grew and more settlers headed west, the population of the location that would become Kansas City expanded. The population exploded with the arrival of the railroad and the construction of a bridge over the Missouri River.

Today the city is home to 445,000 citizens. Kansas City is well known for its park system and numerous parkways. In fact, Kansas City has more avenues and boulevards than any city in the world except Paris.

In addition, Kansas City is only exceeded by Rome for the number of fountains. While the city is distinctly American these attributes result in a European flavor.

Kansas City is a metropolitan area with much to offer the up-and-coming professional. It offers a variety of social and cultural entertainment options without feeling like an overwhelmingly metropolitan area. Commercial and health care facilities are growing in number, and many students are either from the area or choose to stay on to start their careers.
