Perhaps one of the most notable businesses to call Pottsville home is the Yuengling Brewery. Founded in 1829, the Yuengling Brewery is the oldest operated family brewer of beer in the United States.
Surviving the prohibition, the brewery is going strong to this day, resisting numerous attempts by corporate brewers to buy-out the family business.
There are plenty of recreation areas, with a number of parks for those who enjoy the outdoors. The city is host to several outdoor programs in the summer. Pottsville is located about 100 miles northwest of Philadelphia.
