About Career Colleges of America
Career Colleges of America is found in three locations throughout California. It was opened in 1988 and came under the management of CCA Educorp in 1991. Its goal has always been to provide entry-level vocational training in some of the market's leading industries. The San Bernardino campus is the oldest of the three.
Most of the courses offered through the San Bernardino campus are related to the health care field. These include: Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, Vocational Nurse, Surgical Technology, Medical Assistant, Medical Biller, and Pharmacy Technician.
Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (DMS)
The Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (DMS) program offers training in working directly with the sonography equipment found in hospitals, clinics, and imaging clinics. Coursework includes a focus on anatomy and physiology, the physics of sonography, equipment use, documentation, and specialty work in abdominal, OB/GYN, and vascular sonography.
Vocational Nurse (VN)
The Vocational Nurse (VN) program trains graduates to sit for the NCLEX-PN licensure exam, which will give them an LPN license upon attaining a passing score. Coursework focuses on every aspect of nursing, from theory to clinical experience. Patient care, ethics, and state standards are stressed.
Surgical Technology (ST)
The Surgical Technology (ST) program offers training in surgical technology, from OR set-up to sterilizing supplies. It focuses on all the different facets of the field, including general knowledge and physical skills needed to work in a surgical environment. Graduates can expect to find entry-level employment working alongside nurses and surgeons in the hospital setting.
Medical Assistant (MA)
The Medical Assistant (MA) program trains students in performing routine medical procedures (including EKG's and lab tests) as well as general office procedures. The focus of this course is primarily on the clinical side of things, offering graduates the opportunity to find entry-level positions as medical assistants or in direct patient care.
Medical Biller (MB)
The Medical Biller (MB) program trains students to work under the guidelines of the ICD-9 and CPT standard coding procedures. Students work with Medisoft software in order to get the best education possible for real-world applications. Most graduates of this program move on to work within medical offices and insurance companies.
Pharmacy Technician (PT)
The Pharmacy Technician (PT) program offers training in the basics of pharmacy technology. Coursework includes understanding drug names, dosages, and administration. Graduates are generally equipped to work in entry-level pharmacy positions within hospitals and retail pharmacies.

To this end, they are expected to have a combination of professional experience in their respective fields and a commitment to the success of each and every student, which is helped along with hands-on learning.

The San Bernardino campus is located at 184 West Club Center Dr. Suite K. A modern facility, the San Bernardino campus has classrooms, hands-on laboratories, offices, and lounges.
Accreditation
The school is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Continuing Education and Training. Further accreditation for the Surgical Technology program is granted through the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Program, and the Vocational Nurse program is also accredited by the California Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians.
Financial Aid
Financial aid in the form of federal and state funding is available to those who qualify and fill out the requisite FAFSA forms. Students who don't qualify based on financial need may turn to private loans and scholarships or tuition payment assistance through the school's financial aid office.

The city became a trading hub for the area when a railroad link was established with Los Angeles and then with the rest of the country. An Air Force base was established during World War II but closed in 1994 eventually becoming the San Bernardino International Airport.

San Bernardino also lays claim to the very first McDonald’s restaurant opened by the McDonald brothers in 1948. There are many entertainment events presented in the area. The California Theater offers Broadway shows and excellent classical presentations by the San Bernardino Symphony.
San Bernardino has a very moderate climate and the average temperatures result in an environment conducive to many outdoor activities. Outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy skiing, hiking and fishing among other activities.
