Kaplan College offers a variety of programs that allow graduates to go on and have fulfilling, well-paying careers. With the current rate of expansion, the health care field is full of opportunities for those who want to advance themselves.
The San Diego campus of Kaplan College offers diplomas in a number of areas. The curriculum includes real-world situations so that students are fully prepared to begin their careers.

Medical Assistant (Certificate)
Kaplan College's San Diego campus offers a Certificate for their Medical Assistant program. These graduates are well equipped to assist doctors and nurses during exams and procedures, as well as to do charting and reception work.
Medical Insurance Technician (Certificate)
A Certificate program, the Medical Insurance Technician curriculum at Kaplan College is designed to prepare you to seek entry-level employment as a insurance clerk, billing specialist, medical insurance coder, or medical collections clerk.
Coursework in the Medical Insurance Technician program includes training in medical terminology, insurance claims processing, medical office computer software, medical billing, and patient information processing.
Nurse Assistant Training Program (Certificate)
The Nurse Assistant training program at Kaplan College is designed to prepare graduates for entry-level employment in positions such as Private Home Care Companion, Acute Care Certified Nursing Assistant (Level 1), and Long-Term Care Certified Nursing Assistant Level 1). Training in this program includes body mechanics, observation, rehabilitative nursing, charting, and long-term care patient needs.
Nursing (Associate of Science)
Preparing graduates to seek entry-level employment as a Registered Nurse (RN), the Nursing program at Kaplan College is an Associate of Science (AS) curriculum. Coursework is hands-on, and includes instruction in anatomy and physiology, nursing assessments, leadership and management skills, and human behavior.
Vocational Nursing (Certificate)
The LVN program at Kaplan College leads to a diploma that allows graduates to sit for the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-PN), certifying them to practice as LVN's in the state of California.
They will have the necessary skills and expert knowledge required for entry-level positions as acute care staff nurses, home health nurses, licensed vocational nurses (after passing state exam), long-term care charges or staff nurses, phlebotomy/blood bank nurses and public school LVN's/health clerks.
Students will learn fundamentals and principles of nursing with foundational courses in medical terminology, physiology and psychology. Students will also be given an in depth knowledge of maternal-newborn, pediatric, medical-surgical and geriatric nursing.
Patient Care Assistant/Technician (Certificate)
Preparing students for entry-level employment in positions such as a rehab aide, ER technician, patient care technician, EKG technician, or certified nursing assistant, the Patient Care Assistant/Technician curriculum is a Certificate program.
Assisting patients with a variety of ailments, graduates of this program will be instructed in equipment set up for patient treatments, walking patients to and from treatment with a gait belt, and a variety of other duties.
Faculty
Not only do Kaplan College faculty members have experience in the medical field, but many of them are still active. This means that they are up-to-date on many of the most recent technologies and trends and are able to keep their students current. Both faculty and staff are available to help students as they adjust to college life and as they work through their programs. Students receive individual advisement and even have the opportunity to work with tutors.
Facilities
The San Diego campus is a modern facility that is filled with state-of-the-art equipment. Free parking is available. Classrooms and laboratories have been built to allow for actual hands-on experience, and the library and learning resource center are available to augment classroom studies. The equipment includes everything from up-to-date electrocardiograph machines and x-ray machines to personal computers and 10-key machines. The campus includes student lounges and computer labs, too.
Accreditation
Kaplan College has been accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges of Technology and has been licensed by the Bureau for Private Postsecondary and Vocational Education. Other approvals have been bestowed by organizations like the National Center for Competency Testing, the California Department of Health Services, the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology, and others.
The school is also a member of the Association of American Medical Technologists, Career College Association, California Association of Private Postsecondary Schools, and Alpha Beta Kappa National Honor Society.
Financial Aid
