San Luis Obispo, CA Health Care StudentAs an educational institution, Laurus College is fairly new. It first opened its doors in 2006 after its parent corporation, Michigan-based Qe2 Systems, took over Atlas Computer Centers. Qe2 currently has educational facilities across California, Michigan, and Oregon. It provides vocational training and education to existing businesses and corporations.

The school offers eight courses of study. These include 3D Animation, Business Applications, Computer Networking, Information Technology & Service Professional, Office Support, Professional Business Support, Web Design, and Medical Billing. All are offered as certificate programs.

Medical Billing

The Medical Billing program lasts for a total of 300 clock hours. The coursework runs through computer basics, extensive medical terminology, insurance processing, and electronic billing. Students spend much of their time on the computer learning exactly how to run the software used in most medical offices today, making graduates prepared to begin immediate entry-level work in front offices, insurance claims companies, and billing centers.
