About Brown Mackie College
Brown Mackie College was founded more than 100 years ago in 1892 as the Kansas Wesleyan School of Business. In the late 1930s, it was purchased by Perry E. Brown and A.B. Mackie who renamed it the Brown Mackie School of Business.
By 2003, the entire group was acquired by Education Management Corporation and given the name Brown Mackie College. There are now 19 locations found in 9 different states, and the focus has spread out from business to include computers, education, medical, and more. The school has a one-class-a-month format that makes it unique.

Consisting of 100 credit hours, the Occupational Therapy Assistant course o study is an Associate of Applied Science program. Preparing students to seek entry-level employment as an Occupational Therapy Assistant, this program will also prepare the graduate to take the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
Combining classroom lectures with lab and clinical instruction, this program will teach students about the human body, including the structure of cells, tissue, organs, and the senses. In addition, students will complete coursework in kinetics, and the assessment procedures necessary in occupational therapy.
Veterinary Technology
Consisting of 96 credit hours, the Associate of Applied Science in Veterinary Technology program can be completed in as little as 2 years. Preparing students to seek entry-level employment in a veterinary clinic or other veterinary-related environment, this program will provide students with a wide range of clinical skills.
In addition, students will learn anesthesia administration and monitoring, animal patient care, medical imaging and laboratory procedures. Surgical preparation and assistance is also covered, in addition to record-keeping and front office procedures.
Practical Nursing
To go a step further in the ability to work with patients and assists physicians, some students may opt to pursue a diploma in Practical Nursing. The focus of this program is not only on classroom learning, but also on clinical experience.
Some of the areas studied in pursuit of the Practical Nursing diploma include pediatrics, obstetrics, pharmacology, geriatrics, and medical-surgical nursing. Those who earn this diploma are prepared to pursue the LPN State Board licensure.
Physical Therapy Assistant
An Associate's degree program, the Physical Therapy Assistant curriculum at Brown Mackie College is designed to prepare graduates to seek entry-level employment as a physical therapy assistant.
Consisting of 100 credit hours, the coursework in the Physical Therapy Assistant program includes body mechanics, universal precautions, bandaging, vital signs, and sterilization techniques. In addition students will learn various assessment procedures, and how to monitor patient progress.

The South Bend campus of Brown Mackie College is home to 12 classrooms, but it has so much more to offer. The school’s three computer labs include an MCSE lab and a CADD lab. There are also two medical labs and an electronics lab. Additionally, the school has both library and a law library.
